Embarking on the Camino de Santiago is a transformative experience, but one that requires careful planning and practical knowledge to be enjoyed with ease, safety, and comfort.
At EnjoyIberia, our Mentorship is led by those who know every kilometer of this route. Through personalized meetings, we guide you through every stage — from choosing the ideal route to your first step on the Camino.
How the Mentorship Works
Our mentorship is structured into direct meetings focused on your individual or group preparation, covering four fundamental pillars:
1. Advisory Meetings, Routes, and Calendar
Profile Analysis and Route Selection: Alignment on the best route (such as the Central Portuguese, Coastal, French Way, among others) according to your profile, goals, and available time.
Defining Dates and Weather Windows: Choosing the best time of year to walk, considering temperatures, rainfall, and pilgrim flow.
Stage Planning: Dividing daily kilometers into realistic and well-distributed goals, respecting your pace and ensuring free time for contemplation.
2. Physical and Mental Preparation
Training Guidance: Practical tips for strengthening, preparatory walks on varied terrain, and adapting to using a backpack.
Mental Preparation and Attitude: How to deal with fatigue, manage expectations, respect your body's signals, and experience the cultural and spiritual essence of the Camino.
3. Equipment, Backpack, and Clothing
Equipment Consulting: Guidance on proper footwear (prior breaking-in, boots vs. trail shoes) and specific socks for blister prevention.
What to Pack (Complete Checklist): Rigorous curation of essentials to stay within the recommended weight limit (approximately 10% of body weight).
Clothing and Layers: Choosing lightweight, breathable, quick-drying fabrics suitable for a layering system (base, warmth, and waterproof protection).
4. Daily Life on the Camino (The Real Routine)
Daily Dynamics: How the walking routine, rest breaks, and support points along the trail work.
Stamps and Credential: How to register daily stamps to obtain the traditional Compostela.
Food and Technical Stops: Where to find the best local support points, regional gastronomy, and proper hydration.
Digital Access to Information: Provision of maps, elevation profiles, historical info on sites, and useful contacts.
